I love when the Lord speaks to me when I’m not expecting it. Such was the case today as I was running on the treadmill with the radio blasting beside me. A woman was sharing her story of trying to get law makers to change their stance on education for special needs children (her child was one of those negatively impacted by new rules). After countless efforts to get the powers that be to see the need to change the new rules (with no effect), she threw up her hands and said, “God, I’m done! You can have it!” It was then that she heard God whisper to her heart, “Write a letter”. And so she wrote, appealing one more time on behalf of these children that the new rulings be reverted. They listened, and everything was made right again.

In hearing this, God spoke to me, reminding me of Isaiah 40:29-31: “(God) gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint” (NIV). This woman had exhausted herself, and when she laid it at the Lord’s feet, she received direction and found new strength to go at it again. In Psalm 46:10 God calls us to “cease striving and know that (He is) God” (NASB). Are you tired, worn out, ready to give up? I encourage you to relax (another translation of the word “cease striving”), let go and lay it at the Lord’s feet. He promises to give you new strength. And when He is the one showing you what to do, you’re likely to like the results.
